It has been busy the last couple of days. On Friday Mom started her new IV chemo treatment. It went well for her, and she had her IV kept in so that Deb Nordeman could come by and give her some fluids for dehydration. It made enough of a difference that Mom could still go out and celebrate New Years with their group that has celebrated together for 40 years! Today she will likely need to lay low, as it was a long day yesterday, and her energy levels remain very low.

This chemo will affect her differently than the last regime. Mom will need to be more careful of getting any fevers - she needs to go straight to the hospital at any sign of it. Other side-effects will likely affect her, but we hope they will be minimal - only time will tell. We are so thankful that God has kept her in His care this past year. It has been a difficult year - full of ups and downs, but we know we are in His hands.

Wishing you all a Blessed 2011.

  3. Good to hear that it's going well and that Deb is able to come out when needed.
How wonderful that they were able to go out and celebrate New Years. I was in bed by 10:30 :o) We'll leave the celebrating to the young set :o)
We pray that the side effects will be minimal and no trips to the hospital need to happen. The Lords Blessing for 2011 to you all. May He give peace and strength.

  5. Happy New Year, Herman and Helen!! May the Lord continue to bless you. How wonderful that you could celebrate with your best friends! Andy and I went to see the afternoon performance of the Nutcracker which was amazing... if I had the time, I'd become a set designer... the sets were outstanding. Much love comes your way!
    Love Enid
