Mom and Dad just came back from the last oncology visit. The oncologist was a little shocked at how much mom's health has changed from the last appointment. She is quite concerned about Mom's cough and is looking at the x-rays to see if Mom will need a chest tube put in tomorrow to drain away some of the fluid in her lungs. She is also taking Mom off the oral chemo, and putting her back on IV chemo. They will put in a PICC line in her upper arm to give her the chemo as her lungs are not in good enough shape to give her another portacath, which Mom would definately prefer.
The new chemo regimen will be one chemo treatment a week for two weeks, and then a week off. Again the oncologist has said that this can be quite effective for the triple-negative cancer Mom has. We are praying that she won't need the chest tube and that this new chemo regime will prove effective for her.
