Dad, Mom, Deb Nordeman and myself just came back from the oncologist. We are feeling so thankful right now - it was a very down-to-earth visit, but it left us with a lot of hope. Mom's cancer is definitely at stage 3, but the oncologist feels that is is only locally advanced and not necessarily metastasized - which is good news.
Mom will be undergoing 6 months of chemo - with treatments taking place every 3 weeks. This will then be followed with radiation. Before this, Mom has to get a porta-cath put in, and another heart test to see how her heart pumps. This will be used as a base-line for the chemo affect on her heart.
She will have another visit to the oncologist on Aug.24th. to make sure that Mom's wound site has more fully healed. Once the chemo starts, healing will be slowed down, and then there will be more chance for infection. If she (the oncologist) is happy with the healing, then the chemo will start soon after.
We thank you for continuing to hold Mom and Dad up in prayer. We also thank our Heavenly Father for holding us up in all these things.

Does it feel good to get a tentative timeline for what will happen next?

  7. Dear Helen & Herman
May the Lord bless you all!
