We are thankful that Mom was able to receive her fourth chemo treatment on Thursday. She had such a good week previous to it, we felt confident her blood work (white blood cell count) would be high enough. As it was, she squeaked in on the line - her blood work was the very minimum - but it was enough!
She is feeling okay right now - not sleeping the greatest (due to meds) but that should get better as the week progresses. It will be the nausea and bad taste that she will be coping with this week, but that will hopefully ease after about 1 1/2 weeks.
Mom has been told by the oncologist that the next four treatments (of a different type) will have more difficult side-effects. As she has coped well with the last treatments, we hope that it will not be as miserable a picture as she (the oncologist) has painted. But we will take this one day at a time.
Dad and Mom continue to be very well taken care of by the church community and friends - we are so thankful for that! I'm not sure Dad would like me to write this - but he is a fantastic care-giver too! He juices, cooks, cleans and chauffeurs for Mom - he takes such good care of her!
We thank our Heavenly Father for continuing to hold up both Mom and Dad - He is our true Comforter and Help in our time of need.

  1. Keep up the good work Herman. People (us included) often don't realise, or forget, what we promised in our marrige vows. That through sicness or health....Neither Helen(I'm sure) or I, ever expected that our husbands would become our caregivers. But we thank them for being there and Him for giving them the strength and courage that they need.
    God Bless you both.
