It's been a week now since Mom had her first treatment. She is doing quite well - experiencing nausea, but the medication does help. I think that she (and we) are coming more to the realization that this coming winter will not be easy. Because her cancer is estrogen negative, she cannot have the hormonal-based treatment. Instead she needs the more toxic chemo, which is harder on the body. With each treatment, the side-effects will likely become worse, as the chemo toxins build up in her body. Mom is reaching the low point (re: immune system) in this treatment cycle this weekend, so she will not be "mingling with the masses". As the flu and cold season approaches, she will have to be even more careful of infection...so contact with family and friends will need to be more limited. We are thankful that she is still doing quite well, and she can still be quite upbeat.
We praise God for His continued care and blessings.
